The fall-winter collection draws inspiration from the Voynich manuscript, a mysterious codex written by an unknown author in a language yet to be decrypted. The prints and embroidery pay tribute to a fantasy of non-existent plants and flowers serving as an illustration to the manuscript.
«We were thinking about drawing a parallel between the manuscript and a woman. A woman’s inner world is just as hard to uncover as it is to understand the very core of Voynich’s codex», - comment Anastasia Riabokon and Olesya Kononova, the design duo behind Lake Studio.
The collection is a variety of dresses such as silk midi gowns and double-sided jacket dresses made of velvet jacquard. The essential robe dresses of Lake Studio’s aesthetic are an important part of the Mysterious Lake collection. The gowns are complemented with jackets, corsets and hand embroidered coats. The collection’s inspiration is also Early Renaissance: its influence is notable in quilted jackets, velvet tops, dresses with voluminous sleeves and long silk blouses with a standing collar.
Fabrics and colors
Textured wool, cady and alpaca underline the tenderness and lightness of silk and the elegance of jacquard and velvet, while the palette varies from grey, green and light blue to milky, purple, light brown, beige and golden.
This season Lake Studio presents three different collaborations. Our creative team has designed a tote, a belt bag and a messenger in cooperation with Moreca Atelier. A range of head pieces which includes jacquard bonnets and embroidered hats was created together with Cover #1. A well-known jewellery designer Nastia Alenikova has handcrafted brooches, pendants, earrings and cuffs according to our design and technical specifications. All accessories in the jewellery line are made of gilded bronze.
